This
project involves the extension of Martin Luther King Jr.
Boulevard from Goldmine Road to NC 200 (Lancaster Highway).
Current plans are for a two-lane roadway to be constructed, but
sufficient right-of-way will be purchased in order to allow for
the road to be expanded to four lanes.
In August 2006, NCDOT
and the "Federal Highway Administration" (FHWA) signed a
document known as a "Finding Of No Significant
Impact" (FONSI). Both agencies have determined that this
project will not have a significant impact on the human
environment and that an "Environmental Impact Statement" (EIS)
is not required. The FONSI, along with a map of the area
affected.
