NC 73 (Sam Furr Road) Widening (R-2632AA)

 

   


This project will result in the widening of NC 73/Sam Furr Road from US 21 (Statesville Road) to east of NC 115 (Old Statesville Road).  The purpose of the widening is to reduce congestion and improve safety and mobility in the corridor. 

The widening of this project was originally proposed to begin in FY 2012, however the Town of Huntersville has entered into a Municipal Agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to advance this project.  Construction is now scheduled to take place in FY 08.  (The fiscal year refers to the federal government’s fiscal year which begins on October 1.) The Town will pay for the project and will be reimbursed by NCDOT in FY 2012.   

Project Length:  1.4 miles

Estimated Project Cost:    $ 9,000,000

Average Daily Traffic:  Existing: 24,000 vehicles per day

Projected by 2030: 46,000 vehicles per day
